                        My Story

“I love to fish. I own a small 14’ boat which can quickly become crowded with 2 or 3 anglers and tackle …. an accident waiting to happen with fishing rods. My first thought was to build a rod rack I have seen in use, using plastic tubes. The problem was; where in the boat to install it? I didn’t want it in a location where it would be in the way of casting or reeling in a fish. Eventually I designed a “portable” rod rack which can be placed at various locations in the boat.” C.S.Morgan

INTRODUCING The Original Portable Rod Rack

Now you can organize up to 4 fishing rods (not including Fly rods) in a boat with limited space, such as a Jon boat or a canoe, by hanging the rod rack from the boat’s gunnel or free standing on the boat’s floor without permanently attaching the rod rack to your boat. If you find it is in your way, simply move it to a different location. It is an excellent accessory for Pontoon boats by standing it on the floor or hanging it from the rail. This rod rack isn’t just for boats; you can take it anywhere you go fishing. If you are fishing from the dock or along the shore line, bring it along. It’s lightweight and long ergonomic handle allows for lifting and carrying with little bending and effort. You can store your rods indoors or outdoors, on the deck or at the dock, from the shore and much more. Hung up or freestanding, C.S. Morgan’s Original Portable Rod Rack is the perfect solution for a crowded boat.

Made to Last

This rod rack is made of untreated Cedar, a rot resisting wood over a long period of time, and rust resistant metals: Aluminum hangers and stainless steel screws. A technique called “boning”, as you would do to a baseball bat, is done to the entire rod rack. This makes the wood more dense and gives a subtle finish. Cedar does not necessarily require to be treated with stain or any other protection. In time it will weather and turn grey, which many people find attractive. However, if you wish to keep the original colour and looks or change the colour, there are sealants/stains you can apply to the wood such as “Boiled Linseed oil”. With proper care, this rod rack will serve you for years… unless your dog gets a hold of it or it is used to start a camp fire.

All Hand Made

These rod racks are not manufactured. Each one is made by hand. Even the handle is hand made using a draw knife. Like snowflakes, all the rod racks function and look the same but individually are different. No two are alike. When walking along a trail or indoors where the ceiling is low, you may carry the rod rack, with the rods in place, horizontally by holding at the base of the handle. This trick is handy going through doors. Always keep an eye on the tips of the rods. When you receive your rod rack, some assembly is required. The 2 hangers need to be screwed to the bottom of the rod rack using a #2 square head bit screw driver. The handle is designed to be attached or removed in seconds for packing purposes.

NOTE:

This is NOT a rod holder to be used for “hands free” fishing. – Do not use the handle as a “fish whacker”. Cedar is too light a wood and you’ll only make the fish mad! – When carrying the rod rack with rods in place, ALWAYS keep an eye on the rod tips for low tree branches, overhead objects and closing doors …. Especially closing doors!!!! Since fishing practices and handling are beyond my control, I disclaim all liability for any damages which may result from using or handling of this rod rack Each dowel and knob is hand made… … using a “draw knife and a shaving horse” a technique which goes back hundreds of years . To Assemble …. Match the coloured stickers with the bottom of the rod rack to that of the holes of the hangers, then screw the hangers to the rod rack. When assembled properly, the fishing rods should lean in the same direction as the hangers
